The basketballscotland communities team has influenced the growth of the sport since it joined the CashBack programme in 2008. Programmes being focused on in phase three (2014 to 2017) of funding includes their Developing Young People programme, including an education project, youth leadership qualifications, modern apprenticeship scheme and an extension of the successful schools of basketball projects. The Growing the Game project looks at Club and Competition development, an Equalities and School and Club Champion programme.
Over 5,000 young people are now playing basketball in their local communities, including regional development leagues, as well as primary and secondary school competitions.
