Football Equity

Launched on the 26 June 2013, The SFA Football Equity Project assists Ethnic Minority and Diverse Communities to engage with a range of football programmes in order to break down racial stereotypes while increasing the wellbeing of neighbourhoods and football teams.

With the expertise of strategic partners BEMIS Scotland - a national umbrella organisation working with all ethnic minority communities – the Association is now able to roll out its exciting and inclusive project of participation for Ethnic Minority communities across Scotland.

The Football Equity team consist of 5 Football Equity Officers, a Football Equity Co-ordinator and a Football Development Manager. They are split across six ‘Scottish FA regions’, which we hope means that everyone in Scotland will have the same chance to benefit from the project.

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said:

“This will also have the benefit of increasing the talent pool and growing our national game. Scotland is a multi-cultural society and I welcome the work that the Scottish FA and BEMIS Scotland is doing to ensure the game from grassroots up reflects that, by breaking down the barriers that ethnic minorities have faced in the past to participating in football.”
